Journal entry:
Day 13: Rough Day
Today was a battle from the beginning. Owen, who was experiencing discomfort and anxiety, found little relief in the night, instead relying on Mom's continual presence to achieve some sense of calm. The morning did not start well either, with breakfast becoming a source of a meltdown over something as simple as how much sausage he had.
Owen's mood was considerably sour, his typical warmth replaced by an understandable grumpiness, rejecting even Nana and Dad's loving attempts. A surprise visit from Papa, who drove from Eugene, pierced through the gloom briefly. Still, Owen quickly retreated into his shell of agony.

We proceeded under this dark cloud, with Nana and Papa going to mass and leaving Owen and Mom to take a deserved nap. Dad, seizing the peace, caught up on work, a necessary break from the hectic pace of our daily lives.
The strained family dynamics were tempered by unwavering support, as evidenced by Nana and Papa's efforts to help with prosaic but vital activities like laundry and the community's ongoing support through donations.
However, the primary test of the day was when it came time for medication. Owen's nervousness over taking his prescriptions, which stemmed from previous experiences, resulted in a conflict that none of us desired. The difficulty of administering six drugs was physically exhausting, but it was important for his health. Owen eventually fell asleep, weary by the day's emotional and physical toll, allowing us a time of peaceful introspection.

We are preparing for Owen's clinic visit tomorrow, a critical step in his continuous therapy. Still, the uncertainty of our accommodations weighs heavily on our minds as we're still on a waiting list for Ronald McDonald until our confirmed stay from March 2nd through 11th. The balance of managing Owen's care, logistical problems, and keeping some routine is a daily juggling act, but one we approach with love and hope at the forefront.
As we prepare for the days ahead, we are grateful for every act of support, every moment of understanding, and the strength we find in one another. Owen's experience exemplifies tenacity, love, and the powerful impact of community.
